Life after Machu Picchu

Absolutely buzzing after our trekking we have head back to Cuzco for our one and only night out. We hit the town and managed to enroll a solo traveling English Ed into our revelry. Craic was had. The clubs are good fun, lots of salsa and young people having fun. We managed to stay up to see Ireland lose to the All Blacks.

Slept all the next day and relaxed, let our bodies rest a bit. We then headed to Pisac, a small town in the Sacred Valley to go do our first helpx volunteer stay. Up in the mountains, we came to Alcadio’s place “Kausay Punku”, a lovely place that is totally off-grid. He has built these lovely mud-brick abodes and we settle in for the night. The next day we do a day of work, raking and collecting hay for compost and transplanting herbs but our hearts are not really in it. I did not realize how tired I really was so the next day we said no to work and paid for our room instead. We have a big weekend of ceremonies and we really need to rest. Alcadio is such a gentle and nice man, he totally understood us and said we needed to rest. Sadly he speaks no English and our Spanish is still awful but we managed with some help from google translate and one of the other people staying there to really understand each other and his mission there. He makes amazing essential oils and the place he has created is really tranquil and beautiful. We had to cook for ourselves and as there was no electric is was in bed asleep by 7.30pm

Beside poor gabby getting bitten by a local dog and another trip to the doctor we are really getting some much needed R&R.

We are now in the little town Pisac, a lovely hippy town with lots of good places to eat and rest. I am really enjoying the rest as we really needed it. It has been quite the schedule to get to this point.

love, love 🙂
