La La Land

Flew in to LAX from Mexico, all very easy. Picked up the hire car and headed to our very generous hosts Martin and Gabi’s in Encino. First time driving in USA, first time driving a hire car!! It was scary at first but the US really is designed for comfort and convenience. It was still quite a challenge for me to overcome my anxiety but I did it and I feel very proud. It took me a long time to get my car driving licence and I still marvel at being able to drive a car like all the other “grown-up” people.

roads that just go on for a far as the eye can see

After a great couple of nights hanging out with Martin, Gabi, Aaron, and Danial. We head off on our road trip to Joshua Tree. Tim and Sarah Boland have lent us a cabin in the desert and we could not pass that up. It is a stunning place and the feeling of movement and travel is great. The open road, the big skys and the mountains boggle my heart.

After Pioneer town we head to Palm Springs for a night. The next day we got the sky car up to a part of the national park there to be met by stunning vistas and snow!

Back to LA for a great dinner with Tim, Sarah, and Niamh. It was our last night in LA and the last night of our odyssey. A drink in Hollywood and to bed. Our last day in the Americas and we had a great afternoon with Yan hanging out in Hollywood and seeing all the sights.
