Coffee triangle

Overnight bus to Armenia was not too bad but we got in 2 hours early and arrived at 4.30 am instead of 6.30 am. We thought Armenia would be a nice town in the Colombian wilderness but it turned out to be a pretty dull town. We got to our Airbnb very early and they were generous enough to let us in and sleep on their bed for a few hours. We found a lovely place for breakfast, sitting in the garden with lots of birdlife and Agouti (a relation of Capybara but smaller) scampering around, this cafe and its garden is really the only saving grace of this town.

Day two we head to a town called Montenegro to go visit a coffee plantation. We booked it through airbnb experiences. It was really lovely, we were met by Alejandro and his wife Carolina. We learnt all about coffee and the local birdlife while being stuffed with fruit, coffee and these amazing Yukka flour cheese bread things. It was hot, sweaty, informative and just great to get out into the Colombian country. The farm was stunning with a waterfall, river and bamboo forest (a native bamboo). Coffee flowers smell a bit like Jasmin, sweet and fresh.

We were in no rush to get back to Armenia but alas our bed was there so back we went and an early night. It is rainy season here so there is usually thunder in the distance like someone moving furniture around upstairs.
